Petrowsky Family Photo

The Petrowsky's in Pleasant Valley were the winners of the Scout Fundraiser in February, they won the photo session, they hadn't had a family photo in years! So it was nice to meet them and update their photos. They have a nice house, with some chickens in the backyard (we got a few shots with them holding their family pets!)

The evening light was dropping as expected, and we worked our way around their house taking photos all of the place.

World Junior Racquetball Championships

Mid-way through the week long World Junior Racquetball Championships in Canoga Park California. There are competitors from all over the world here, many from Ireland, Nicaragua, Boliva, Mexico, Costa Rica, Canada, Guatemala, Chile, Honduras, Colombia, and of course the USA. This is my first foree into sports photography, having one working eye doesn't help but the shots are coming out well and I'm learning a lot.

Last weekend John Flinders assisted me in capturing Ciara and Dante's Wedding in Thousand Oaks. It was a nice little church, Saint Paschal Baylon. We headed over to Dover and Hendrix for a few shoots and then to the reception at the Marriot in Oxnard. They did a great job, setting it all up themselves and organizing everything. The music was loud and they danced well into the evening.

Its Been Awhile

Well, its been awhile since I've posted here, still busy shooting, just not updating here on the site. Since my last post, I've shot a few weddings which I will update here in reverse order so it reads right.

I recently tried Lightscribe Disks for a recent Family Photo Shoot, for the Ericksons. We met out at a park in Thousand Oaks on a semi-overcast day which was perfect. The great greens and old oak trees in the park were magnificent. It was at the end of 2009, actually the very end that Shane Hadaller and Shauna Erickson were married. Now we were back and Shauna had a young one named Skyler, these were the first family photos they had in a long time, unfortunately Shane had a test at the last minute so he wasn't able to be there.

Had a quick visit with my brother-in-law up in Chico, Ca, and did an impromptu family portrait for them.

The last wedding I shot, Shane and Shauna. They had their wedding up at the nice place on the top of the hill near Stow Street in Simi. it was alot of fun!

Just before the wedding, I met up with the Mosleys at a local park, It was good to be able to update their family portrait as they had not had one in quite some time.

There was a small ceremony and intimate wedding for Heidi and Scott. It was a nice ceremony, and seeing a family come together and be able to build anew was really nice.

The second wedding for the Flinders Family, Jennifer marrying Aaron Salgado, thats 2 out of 3!

Manipulators 2 and ModelMayhem

I had heard about ModelMayhem and set up a couple of models for a photoshoot for Manipulators 2 at Moorpark.
I was all set and spent an hour

setting up the studio and lights,
and then waited for an hour after
the scheduled time for the models.
Amanda Baylie Brown was my
contact and she had a friend
that she was gong to bring along
for the male part. They were a no-show. And after setting up, it was a little disheartening. I went over to
the drama department and found

Tracy

and Daniel was hanging around the photolab and was able to help out. Tracy was scheduled to go on stage for a play so she had 10 minutes when I found her, I think she was in the studio for a total of 6 minutes for the shoot.

At that point, I would have liked to have more time during the shoot, but I am always able to work with what I get and work in a usual rushed form. I don't like being rushed, but I find that I work like thatr alot, sometimes from my own mistakes, sometimes from unmitigating circumstances.

I was grateful that Tracy and Daniel were available at the drop of a hat. I won't be using Amanda for any future shoots.

We took Jaden to In-N-Out Burger. I hadn't put together a mosaic in a long time, but I really enjoy these. Especially the ones that I am able to get creative with.

Manipulators 1

I had a few different ideas for the new portfolio, and I started to settle on relationships and emotions, centering on the negative side of controlling personalities and manipulators.

I decided to use a diptych format, showing one view (the view that we all see) and then the other a separate camera angle showing more of the behind the scenes view... what we all don't see in peoples lives.

Janel had moved into a new apartment and so she had not moved much furniture in and I thought that it would be a great place to shoot, as there would be less in the shot to affect the viewer and distract from the people and emotions.

this series stems from not only personal experiences with manipulating persons, but seeing other people go through hell from controlling personalities.
